I try many things to reduce the panic and get them to concentrate on the task. (grin) It doesn't hurt that usually for Exam 1 I show up with a fish hat -- one that has a rainbow trout sticking throught it. Hard not to smile before a test when the professor is wearing a fish hat. (double-grin)

Besides, they need the energy.
