TV Commercials - Ur Not Doing It Rite

Huh?

Twice now on ESPN, I've seen commercials for Capitol One which had the music and sound effects track, but not the human audio tracks. WTF? First one was the 20,000 Leagues Under The Sea giant squid, the second was Armadillo Man.

One sounds like a mistake. Two seems like a problem.

Doesn't anyone check these things anymore?

I saw that on ABC... quite a few commercials--Capitol One, Allstate, Dr. Pepper, AT&T, Verizon--had no voice-over track. All the sound effects, backgrounds, and incidental music was there, but no primary voices. I'm guessing that means some kind of mixing error at WZZM with commercials that are designed to go out as HD, and I'm seeing them in the analog over-the-air version.

My guess anyway. Mixing error of some kind, certainly.

Most of those switching things are automated these days and run on clocks. So nobody is really watching them anymore.
