Sadly, I've no finished or nearly finished novel. That doesn't seem to be my forte, although I've written work-for-hire book-length tech manuals, and have a published computer book (from a long time ago) and a published play, the first draft of which was written over a weekend. But a play is no novel in terms of word count.

I assume you've read Scalzi's recent take on getting paid for writing, and his dislike for books that don't get paid an advance?

I did once get a non-fiction book on poisonous plants (or maybe poisons - it's been a number of years) accepted with a small advance based on an outline and sample chapters. The book never saw the light of day because there was a major shake-up at the publishing company and the new editor no longer wanted the book. But since I had all but completed it, they let me keep the advance. I never did sell it to anyone else.
