On a Delta flight comming back into Atlanta last summer the airport was backed up from storm delays in other parts of the country.
We taxied around for a bit, then they found us a gate. We sat across from the gate waiting for the ground crew to get there...and waiting...and waiting. The gate was next to the ground traffic pass-through.
After 20 minutes, with the Captain apologizing repeatedly, he finally announced "We're going in, that should get us a ground crew!" We cheered as he moved the plane and completley blocked ALL the lanes of ground traffic in 4 directions AND the plane lanes as well.
Needless to say, we got a ground crew with in seconds.
