Agreed. But there is something psychological about not quitting even in the face of darkest adversity, which was my point, and I didn't want the distraction of people thinking that I was writing a story 'cause I hates teh stupid military.

As they say in writing circles, a compelling short story has to be about the character's worst day of their life. (grin)
