Things I Did Not Know

From Wednesday's Grand Rapid Press

There are apparently six standard sizes of hen’s eggs. I did not know that. Hmm… upon reflection, I can come up five: jumbo, extra large, large, medium, small. Would the sixth be "extra small"?

No, they’re "peewee".

Huh.

According to another source, a dozen peewee eggs weigh half what a dozen jumbo weigh.

Older hens tend to lay larger eggs than they did as younger hens. Makes sense.

Sort of reminds me of the names for the sizes of olives.
