Stupid, stupid spammers. Really? This is a notice from "State Court"?

I love how we're on a first name basis.

Oh sure, there's a ZIP file attachment as if I'd open that fucker, but this email doesn't contain my name, my address, the court, the judge, the case number -- anything -- even assuming I would get such a notice via email. And the sender's address? Puh-lease. "DexesAmpuAnBayi.com is hosted in Istanbul."

I doubt that Leslie, under oath, could even NAME which state this State Court is in.

Worst. Summons. Ever.

For a while I hadn't been getting a lot of stupid spam. But lately? It's like these people aren't even trying and they're just looking for low hanging fruit.

Oh, and should one of these things ever be real? I would sue. Because no one in their right mind would take this seriously.

Color me, as my grandfather would say, regusted.

Ah, Nothing Like The Sweet Foul Stench of Holiday Spammers

Ring... ring... ring... ring...

Mrs. Dr. Phil is working on our Day-After-Thanksgiving-Movie-Day holiday dinner. Slow-Moving-Boy has to stand up from the rolltop desk, gather one, two canes, and slowly maneuver across the room, stop, set both canes in one hand and pick up the phone, which has already gone to the outgoing answering machine message. Colliding with An Important Message which is SO Important that not only is there no human being involved, it is too impatient to wait for the beep, colliding with the outgoing message. Brilliant.

"...mail provider..."

I think the recording was talking about e-mail provider. And amazingly, the recorded female voice sounded a lot like the spam recording from "Card Services" announcing a problem with our credit card.

We get that one a lot.

No doubt the message was along the lines that there was a problem with my e-mail provider -- or that my mailbox was full and some other provider was unable to send me an important message. Sure. Right. What info do you need to confirm it's me that YOU'RE CALLING? Name? Address? Phone number? The credit card for the billing department for sure.

Right.

First of all, our emails are all through Gmail (free), GVSU/WMU (free) and my website. Second, no one would use a spam recording to let you know of a problem. And if it's a sales call? Any way you look at it, we don't do anything by phone.

Period.

I hung up and returned to writing. I'm sure that the phone line was tied up for another minute or two, no matter what I did on my end. Fine, the spam machine can talk to the aether and let's see if I care.

Nope.

Don't care about them.

I Worry About The Quality Of Our Spammers

I mean, they aren't trying very hard. Why would I respond to, let alone read, an email that:

-- has my email as the sender
-- starts off with RE: in the subject line for which there is no 1st message
-- says my AT&T bill is ready... from support@irs.gov
-- says FedEx can't diliver my package
-- asks about my airline reservation from USAirways, American or United (since my leg injury, I haven't flown anywhere in two years)
-- any email with NO SUBJECT line
-- any email about drugs or pills
-- says it's about an invoice from some place I've never heard of

Sorry. How stupid do you think I am?

Still, all might not be well in the spam business. I go through the spam folder on my work account about once a month. Usually there are some 40 to 75 pages of entries -- today there was only 17.

Almost makes you feel sorry for them.

Nope. Gotcha. Don't feel anything but pissed off that these idiots waste my time and prey on people. Kill them -- kill them all. No Internet privileges for you. No cookie.
