October...

... was a cold and wet month, here in West Michigan. Hell, we even had some snow. Enough to brush off a car once or twice.

November...

... was very mild. Had a good week or so of below-freezing nights for excellent sleeping weather, but right now we are in the midst of a 7 to 10 day stretch of weather in the 50s and 60s. Unseasonably warm. What? No snow for Thanksgiving? Must be global warming.

December...

... starts on Friday. And the arctic air mass coming down the Rockies and the Great Plains is going to possibly clobber us in the Midwest. With a warm Lake Michigan, the lake effect snow machine is just sitting there revving its engine waiting to bury us. They are talking possible blizzard.

I'm betting on even odds that I might not be able to get in to classes on Friday.

Reality Check

Of course, the local weather people make their money by trying to frighten the hell out of people by forecasting Dire Warnings and bullying you into Checking Their Weather Forecasts Frequently. So it's even odds that not a bit of this projected blizzard is really going to hit here. Could be we'll just get an annoying slurry of snow and slushy stuff, causing many of the idiot drivers to slide around the highway as they ignore the weather conditions and try to respond to the Speed Limit 70 signs.

I have no idea how bad this winter is going to be.
