I Was Right!
Sunday, 11 August 2013 23:13During the finale to The Next Food Network Star, they were running this commercial when I saw these lovely little golden brown balls. I said to myself, gosh, those remind me of the bleu cheese fritters from San Chez Bistro in Grand Rapids.
Turned out it was a local cable company insert overlay commercial for... San Chez Bistro.
San Chez is a tapas place and the bleu cheese fritters are to die for. They've tried to rotate them out of the menu and the regulars said Oh no you don't.
Warm melted inner core of bleu cheese with that crispy fried coating. You have to let them sit and cool a moment and try another dish or you'll be biting into molten bleu cheese lava. So good with the roumalade sauce. Mrs. Dr. Phil and I can split an order of six between us. But they're so rich you can't eat too many of them in one setting. (But they're amazing as cold leftovers, too.)
I miss food during my hospital stay.
