Foggy Friday

The Other Side Of Deep Freeze

This morning the temp was up to 29°F as I started out. By the time I got home, it was close to 40°F. The promised rain/mix, which started in the late afternoon in Kalamazoo, came as drizzle. Eventually, north of Wayland, it turned into rain -- enough to switch from delay to low wipers. Roads are clearing. More wet and warm this weekend.

With temperatures so cold on Wednesday and Thursday, I carried the more rugged F4s professional 35mm film camera, but those shots have to wait. The ancient story -- finish the roll before it can be developed. Wait, wait, wait... Today I brought the lightweight D100. It was foggy, so I tried a quick fog-across-campus shot before I headed in from Lot 61. Came out to go home, same fog, maybe more in spots.

Survived my first "week" back in the classroom. Yay!

What The Hell Is Up With Gas Prices?

Wednesday I got gas at the Shell in Wayland. Regular was $3.11.9/gal. Since this was just the second tank since I started driving the Blazer again, I put in premium. With a twice 15¢ grade differential, I paid $3.41.9/gal.

The ice mat the Blazer sat on was about 2" thick.

Two days later, the ice is mostly gone and regular is $3.45.9 and I put in 89 octane midgrade, my usual in the Blazer. $3.60.9/gal. What caused gas to jump 34¢ a gallon, two days after the subzero weather? Dunno.

As usual.
