The Satisfying Hearty Handshake
Tuesday, 13 May 2014 13:57Well, I didn't win the 2014 Speculative Literature Foundation's Older Writers Grant. Again.
But... Malon Edwards sent a nice comment about my submission story "Brooding In The Dark", published online by Interstellar Fiction back in November 2012:
And isn't that one of the reasons why we write? So that someone, somewhere, gets it? One reader at a time?
Anyway, if you're an old fogey like me -- i.e. 50 or older -- then "Please feel free to apply for our 2015 Older Writers grant next year. Applications will be considered from January 1, 2015 to March 31, 2015, and the winner will be announced by May 15, 2015." http://speculativeliterature.org/
And if you haven't read "Brooding In The Dark", then click on the link and you'll no longer have an excuse. (grin)

However, we thank you for your submitted piece, "Brooding in the Dark". Here's what one of our jurors said about it: "The story was original and emotional despite it being from the POV of a dying machine."I may not have won the grant, but I can bask in the thought that someone out there got it.
