The 11 O'Clock News on the local affiliate was telling for a few of reasons.
1. Katie Couric was on and was trying really hard to be articulate (fail).
2. The two local morons kept having to pause when they were comparing Cronkite to today's crop because they would have had to end the sentence with "didn't suck like us."
3. They went to a reporter interviewing people in Times Square and they all seemed to realize in the middle of what they were saying that the guy interviewing them was one of those who fell so short by comparison.
There's not a one of those guys who were on in Walter's day who wasn't a giant by comparison. When one of them went editorial, it was obvious and so shocking that you stopped to listen to whatever had them so passionate that they felt the need to express an opinion.
