Yeah, I was concentrating on the commencement, the visit and the speech -- and didn't in two posts talk about the Kalamazoo Promise. The anonymous donors who've banded together and ponied up the money to pay for college for every Kalamazoo high school graduate.
The bad posters would've bad mouthed the diverse crowd of K-zoo high school students no matter what. That's just who they are. (sigh)
For me, I'm pretty proud of what Kalamazoo Public and Kalamazoo Central have done, and pleased that WMU, where I teach Physics, was able to offer their facilities to help out.
No one can take away the uniqueness of Monday for these students. Just as I remember President Ford passing by just a few feet away from me back in 1976. (double-grin)
