It's hard to get lamb around here, especially if it isn't Easter. Though I suspect there's some Middle Eastern markets on South Division Street in Grand Rapids which have halal meats. Last week our local Allendale Meat Market found two packages of lamb chops in the back of their freezer -- about $10/lb. but oh so lovely. The lamb shanks for Easter were from Meijers. Not only were they on sale, so about three pounds was about $8, but the label said it was Product of Australia. So much for the global marketplace.
And yet we know there are lambs raised around us. The Allendale Meat Market will sell us a whole lamb for $300. Our stew pot isn't quite that big.
