For a number of years my parents used a Presto HP Printing Mailbox. We could email them stuff and twice a day, this inkjet printer plus modem, would call the mothership and print out nice pages. We even used it when we were at their house to print PDFs of things like boarding passes, Google maps and stories. It would email me if it needed a cartridge or was out of paper. A nice one-way solution for two cute little old people who never had a computer.
Eventually the printer died and they have no need for it, but it was a great niche product.
Echo works for computerphiles, children and the elderly. And I guess it has kid safety settings, too.
It sounds good and I think we'll get a lot of use out of it. And if not? Pffft, didn't cost us any real money. (grin)
