I did decide to quiz Echo...
-- Alexa, set alarm for 2:01am. I don't know how to do that.
-- Alexa, set alarm for 3:01am. Alarm set for 3:01 am.
-- Alexa, cancel alarm. Alarm canceled.
So, Amazon Echo apparently knew enough to know there is not a 2:01 am tonight.
