Drove That Sucker Down

The Dow-Jones yesterday dropped to below 10,000 -- first time in a few years. And down over 800 points in two days. Well done!

Uh...

What? You mean were weren't selling short? We aren't getting rich driving the stock market into the toilet? You mean our IRAs are evaporating?

Crap.

Speak for yourself. Not having to use my now very meager retirement IRA for another 30 years I can hope I'm buying cheap. And if the financial market doesn't collapse into another great depression in 30 years that move will have made me a bit more than otherwise.

Of course, my retired parents are likely being hit hard, and my father may well live to 100, so perhaps there goes that extra money.

Yeah, but... I would've made a payment into my Roth IRA this month, except what's the point of just throwing some of the money away before this thing shakes down? Sure it's great to buy cheap, and I expect it to eventually recover, but if tomorrow is cheaper... (grin)

It's just like ridding a toboggan, once the ride starts, all you can do is throw your hands up in the air a shout "Woohoo!"

Except for those who get sick over the edge and dump vomit on the crowd below -- I think that's the current metaphor I'm working with. (evil-grin)
