As Long As I Mentioned This...

On Friday I talked about trying to spend some of my sabbatical writing time downstairs in the Kitty Room, just as Mrs. Dr. Phil did during hers. So I remembered to take a camera down and take a couple of pictures for you.

This is our 16×20 foot Kitty Room -- the reason we bought this house. (grin)

Bagel, Blue and Sam checking out another pleasantly cool July day in the sunshine.

KEPLER, my refurbished laptop I bought in 2002.

Yup, that's a Dr. Phil personalized Swiss Army Memory.

So that's what I'm doing on my summer "vacation" -- how's your summer?

You really do like Kate Winslet, don't you? :)

It's winter here, so I'm working. My wife is traveling so I'm also taking care of the wee one. I could use a few days off.

Why I don't ever so much know what you mean?

Actually, I find that she's a fantastic actress. Titanic may be a special effects blockbuster movie, but Kate literally throws herself from one end of the ship to the other and carries the film. After I saw Titanic, I was surprised to realize that I'd seen her before in Emma Thompson's Sense and Sensibility. In many of her movies and most of her photo shoots, Kate manages to transform herself in many interesting ways. Her Academy Award for The Reader was both richly deserved and long overdue.

Yup. Smitten. (grin)

I should note that Kate isn't the ONLY thing I use for LJ icons and computer wallpaper.

She is a fantastic actress. I can't even remember how many movies she's been in.
Did you her appearance on "Extras"? Hilarious.

The fact that her Oscar came in a Holocaust film only adds irony and legend to her smoking and swearing performance in Extras.

It was a really nice winter....

Actually I think you're in the big Kitty Room picture. (grin) Otherwise, see you in 2016 for your next sabbatical! (double-trouble-grin)

It is not possible to write in a room full of cats.

Well, Ok, it is technically possible to write scifi in a room full of cats, but you're going to end up sounding a lot like Andre Norton.

There are, of course, much worse things

Sure you can. These guys are sixteen years old and all they do is sleep. No problem writing with these cats.

You've been talking to Scalzi too much, who thinks one cannot write in a coffee shop either. Book titles and internet memes don't make truth. (grin)
