(a) I Have A Permanent LiveJournal Account

I do this because I want to. Because I like this. Because I want to talk to my friends. Because I want to talk about my SF writing.

And now LJ wants me to sully my blog? With ads?

I thought one of the points of having a Permanent Account is so that LJ doesn't stick ads up on my LiveJournal.

(b) No, I Shall Not Be Availing Of This Money Making Opportunity

If I want to let you know about something, I will let you know about something. Like yesterday's review of Writers of the Future Volume XXV.

Or that for a very limited time more, you can still buy a PDF of Andromeda Spaceways Inflight Magazine Issue #39 with my SF story "In The Blink Of An Eye". (I just got the hardcopy of Issue #40 the other day, so the PDF offer will expire Real Soon Now.)

But I'm not putting up Google AdSense ads.

Absolutely positively NO.

You're welcome.

I just saw the LJ ad thing. I have a paid account. Not interested in their offer.

Yeah. Not interested in sticking it to the few online friends I got. There's pimping, and then there's whoring. (pardon my French)

Heh, they must've finally noticed the difference between LJ and Blogger when it comes to ads. That is, if you have a free account here, your journal gets plastered with ads and revenue goes to LJ, whereas if you have a free account there and choose to plaster your blog with ads, the revenue goes to you. :p

Well, to be fair, LJ started putting their ads on free accounts when they were trying to drum up more paid accounts. And putting in Google AdSense ads on paid and permanent LJ accounts, with a revenue stream presumably going to both LJ and the user, is a choice that the user can make. I, however, don't want to do that. (evil grin)

Yeah, Blogger keeps trying to get me to place ads on my blog. If I was hurting for money and needed it, I'd roll my own, thanks. I do the blog thing because it's fun, not because I want to monetize it. (of course, now I've cursed myself and will need to put adsense on my blog sometime next year).
