So, Detroit won their bid to host the 2014 NASFiC. If you don't know what that is, when Worldcon is not in North America, they hold a North American Science FIction Convention. Since Worldcon 2014 is in London, we get Detroit.

Now before you start with the jokes, I should point out that the heart of this bid team are the same people who pull off ConFusion every January, one of the best run cons I go to. Also, I understand they got a great deal on room rates at the Ren Center -- $118/night at the Marriott. The whole con hotel and meeting rooms are in one 73 story building. And I guess I missed Detention, the Worldcon in Detroit... in 1959... when I would've been almost 1. (grin)

Anyway, we are assuming that I'll be long recovered by then. So I'm thinking of trying to repeat the success of the Wendy Wake At Worldcon in Chicago last summer. And I just found out that Iron Chef Michael Symon has a restaurant in Detroit called Roast. Unfortunately the menus aren't displaying on my Kindle Fire HD, so I haven't yet checked on the veggie or gluten free kitchen possibilities, but I will. But they DO have a private dining room for a max of 12-16.

So, I am announcing a Wendy Dinner At Detcon proposal, for either Wednesday the 16th or more probably Thursday the 17th. Anybody interested?
