Oh man, we either need a better class of spammers or better computer users who won't fall for this crap:
1 - Why is Maria from riohondo.edu writing to us about Western Michigan University's email?
2 - Yeah, just click HERE and give us your vitals.
http: / / generalresources6 . wix . com / -gowmu-login
Because that looks SO official. It's not our email vendor, it's not WMU's address, it's not even Rio Hondo's address. So who is Wix?
Oh, and GoWMU is not the university's email system, but another application.
3 - Here's the money shot, though...
The typo is verbatim.
4 - and
The lack of a period is also verbatim.
5 - The copyright line was in red in the original. Oh yeah, this is COPYRIGHTED © 2015, so it MUST be legit. Right? Right? Is this thing on?
6 - But it's the HELP DESK. Aren't they supposed to help?
Does anyone fall for this? Don't answer. I'm pretty sure I know the answer. Despite warning all the faculty, staff and students, I'm sure they get some suckers even at academic institutions.
That and I'm pretty sure I can reallocate my server space on the fly already.

NOTES: (1) In all likelihood that's a real email address, probably by now one of their zombie emails, so I didn't include the actual address. Spammers, you're going to have to do your own homework. (2) The active link, which will be down soon I'm sure, I spaced out so LJ/DW won't try to be helpful. (3) I added spaces between lines for legibility. Otherwise the text as I found in my Spam folder today.
