Clearly my midnight LJ posting gave the university administration some pause. Surely there were late night phone calls... "Did you hear? Dr. Phil is NOT going to drive in today. This must be some bad weather."
I don't know when it happened, I didn't see it officially until about 10am. A mass e-mail was sent to staff at 8:39am. But...
Pause For The Moment
This doesn't happen often. In fact, on Thursday my students were saying that they didn't care how bad it'd get, the university would not close. And I agreed.

Western Michigan University is closed today, Dec. 1, due to severe winter weather. All classes are canceled and all offices are closed, except for emergency and essential services. Among essential services, Waldo Library will be open until 5 p.m. today, Dec. 1.
